Understanding the hair growth cycle
Hair growth follows a cycle of 4 distinct phases. With Diolaze, we target all hair follicles in the active growth phase. Typically achieving complete follicle destruction within 4-6 sessions. However, hormonal imbalances may necessitate a longer duration for permanent reduction. Factors such as skin structure and hormone levels may result in requiring more sessions. Such as, for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Additionally, the treatment area plays a role. Facial treatments require more sessions than areas like bikini line, legs, or underarms.
How does the laser work?
The laser targets pigment in the hair follicle. Heat energy is absorbed by the melanin destroying the hair follicle and preventing regrowth. Shedding occurs and without attachment to the shaft, hair cannot grow in the treatment area
How do I prepare for laser hair removal?
The area needs to be shaved the day before treatment. There should be no tweezing , waxing , or chemical removal of the hair for 6 weeks before treatment. Waxing and tweezing remove the hair from beneath the skin and the lesion will not be able to find the pigment. No irritant topical agents such as retinol or hydroquinone should be applied for 3 days before treatment. Typically 4-6 sessions are required for permanent reduction. However, the darker the skin, the more sessions will be required. Typically 10-12 sessions may be required for darker skin.

Will hair grow back?
Actively growing hair is treated. It will not grow back. However, the laser only targets the active growth anagen phase. The other dormant hairs follicles will mature and grow back. Hence requiring another treatment. Treatments are scheduled for 4 to 8 weeks apart and the interval becomes longer as treatment progresses. Also, you may notice an increase in hair growth before you see a final decrease in hair.
Do I have to take precautions after the treatment?
There are no precautions after treatment except tanning should be avoided.

• Shave the day before the appt
• Avoid tanning 4 weeks before treatment if possible; will have better
results otherwise we can still do the laser
• Wear or bring casual clothing as it can be messy with ultrasound gel
